A little bit of chit-chat
Stargaze released the bidding feature on their marketplace, officially releasing the last component of the app's Beta version. The team is expected to release the Trait filtering feature next week.
During Cosmoverse in Medellin, Colombia, this week, cosmonauts expect to hear from Ethan Buchman and Zaki Manian about the long-awaited Atom 2.0 monetary policy change for the Cosmos Hub native token. It will be streamed here if you cannot make it to Medellin.
Incentivising DeFi on Evmos ☄️
A community member posted a Commonwealth thread on Evmos calling for incentivising native DeFi protocols. The author pointed out that Evmos has over 142M EVMOS ready to foster ecosystem growth and that as staking APRs start to wind down, we could see more token holders become liquid in the midterm. According to the post, 2M EVMOS tokens will be unbonded in the next 14 days.
The first measure under the proposal will be to add between 1 and 3 million EVMOS to Diffusion.fi to incentivise various Liquidity Pools for 90 to 180 days. One key aspect of this DeFi reactivation plan is to incentivise bridged assets equally across the different providers to spark competition and draw liquidity to Evmos.
Moreover, according to the author, the plan is to continue this strategy of funding ecosystem players as Evmos onboards new DeFi protocols, especially those with strong ties to the community.
Looking for the next Cross-Chain dApp ⛓️
To grow its grants program, Axelar has launched a partnership with LongHash Ventures, a Web3 accelerator, with up to $100,000 up-front investment from LongHashX and mentorship to raise further funds from investors.
The program will open its applications until November 10th and will focus on 7 categories of cross-chain functionalities, including IDs and Privacy. You can follow this link if you are interested in applying to this Grant Accelerator Program.
Liquid Staking Series: Quicksilver
As the Liquid Staking market starts to get competitive on Cosmos, we will release a series of content pieces around this topic in the coming weeks, starting with a Q&A session with Quicksilver co-founder Roea Mortaki.
Q: We see that centralisation is becoming an issue after the Merge. Liquid Staking solutions such as Lido are one of the main drivers of this move toward centralisation. How does Quicksilver plan to fight that on Cosmos?
A: Decentralisation is one of the project's core tenets, and Quicksilver will be the first liquid staking protocol that enables users to delegate to any validator of their choosing. We also designed other features and mechanisms, such as Participation Rewards, to incentivise users to delegate to decentralised, performant validators that are active in governance. The hope is to encourage users to distribute assets more evenly within the native chains onboarded to the protocol, and in turn have a positive impact on their security and censorship resistance.
Q: Besides centralisation, governance is another hot topic in the blockchain space. How would Quicksilver manage to embrace and promote this critical feature?
A: It's indeed a hot topic in the space that also ties into another one of our principles, which is to keep users empowered. Quicksilver's flagship feature is Governance by Proxy, a mechanism that will enable users to retain their governance rights while liquid staking their assets through the protocol. In addition to that, once the chain is live, all the decisions pertaining to the Protocol (like the chains to onboard next, the fees collected, etc.) will be steered by the community through a governance vote.
Q: DeFi is starting to make its way into the Cosmos ecosystem. What role will Quicksilver play on the growth of this segment?
A: As a Liquid Staking protocol, Quicksilver will be a gateway to DeFi in the Cosmos, but beyond that, we also see the protocol as a powerful catalyst for DeFi innovation in the ecosystem. CosmWasm will enable developers to build directly on Quicksilver as well as leverage cross-chain verifications, Governance by Proxy, and qAssets,to create DeFi products with unique features. We see Quicksilver enabling an entire range of new DeFi applications that is complementary to the current offer, and works in synergies with it.
Q: Is there any other project from the community being built on top of Quicksilver?
A: We are having interesting discussions with teams in the ecosystem interested in building cool and novel products on top of Quicksilver. Once CosmWasm is enabled on the chain -which will happen very soon after launch- that will be possible. Stay tuned!
Q: Would Quicksilver support any other ecosystems in the near future?
A: It's a possibility. Quicksilver can go wherever IBC goes. And we already see that happening with IBC expanding to numerous non-Cosmos chains. If we can control accounts on non-Cosmos chains through IBC, then we can make it happen.
