A little bit of Chit-chat
Mass adoption is yet to come to the blockchain space but we’re getting there, especially with news like this: A proposal in Terra, a DeFi hub for the Cosmos Ecosystem, is asking for $40M to sponsor a “secret” American professional sport franchise for 5 years, using the Terra Community Trust (TCT) to promote the Terra Brand.
According to the proposal, which already has over 98% approval at the time of writing, the branding of Terra will be all over the club’s stadium, with permanent signage facing the audience, on tickets, and other merch items. Also, once the agreement is signed, TCT will begin discussions with the franchise to implement UST as an accepted currency in-venue transaction.
Aave in Cosmos? 🤭
Aave, one of the largest lenders of cryptocurrency, may be on its way to Cosmos. On Tuesday, a proposal was published for the Aave community to cast their vote and decide whether they want Aave V3 to be deployed on Evmos.
The main argument in favor of the proposal is the synergy between Aave and Evmos, especially, given the latter’s tokenomics. Evmos plans to allocate 25% of all newly minted Evmos tokens to a usage incentive pool, fully controlled by governance, which could enable the community to allocate incentives to AAVE users.
So far, the proposal has a whopping 99% approval, although there are still a few days left until voting closes.
Privacy, privacy everywhere! 💪
One of the privacy-oriented projects we covered in our blog, NYM, has announced a token sale on Coinlist, which will take place on February 9th.
The Nym token is essential for the success of their mixnet, “a decentralised privacy network that delivers privacy to end-users by mixing their packets”. The project is designed to create a reputation-based system for the nodes running the network so, the better they perform, the more NYM tokens they will earn.
The token will be the method of payment for end-users and applications that use the mixnet to protect their privacy at the network layer.
Although it may be confusing, the NYM token is not a privacy coin. Nym protocol is not seeking to compete with confidential transactions, Monero, or zero-knowledge proofs in terms of providing privacy on-chain. The protocol can provide network-level privacy for any blockchain and any generic application, just like Tor or a VPN.
Drops all week 💧
This week was a very active one for the Cosmos ecosystem. There were three airdrops on February 1st for the following projects:
Nomic (NOM): this is a bridge between Cosmos and Bitcoin. The airdrop was made as they deployed their stakenet, the first step towards the Nomic mainnet and the Nomic Bitcoin Bridge. The goal of the project is to create a new asset, nBTC, which is IBC-enabled and fully backed by BTC, to allow BTC holders to transfer their assets into the Cosmos ecosystem and vice versa.
Neta (NETA): the project aims to offer a reserve of value on Juno through their token by leveraging its scarcity. They are planning to burn all unclaimed tokens from the airdrop, which are now less than 15% of the initial supply.
Sommelier (SOMM): a tool for traders to automate complex financial transactions, such as portfolio rebalancing, limit orders, batched orders, etc. by connecting Ethereum with Cosmos.
