A little bit of chit chat
Tendermint, which developed the Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus engine powering the Cosmos ecosystem, has changed its name to Ignite. According to Peng Zhong, CEO of Ignite, the change represents their strategy to “expand their focus to bring more people and organisations into the Web3 world.”
Meanwhile, Bitcanna, the network that aims to become the global digital ancillary platform for the cannabis industry, is about to change its tokenomics. A proposal to activate inflation to reward validators and delegators in the network passed on Wednesday with 99.96% of the votes supporting the proposal. They deactivated inflation in the network's genesis.
In collaboration with the Zero Knowledge Podcast we will be hosting the next installation of our event: ZK Hack Mini. Starting on March 1st, every Tuesday, for 3 weeks, we will have workshops around Zero Knowledge topics and puzzle hacking competitions. You can sign up here.
Interplanetary, intergalactic accounts🪐
A new era of interoperability has arrived to the Cosmos ecosystem with the deployment of Interchain Accounts.
Before this upgrade, IBC-enabled blockchains could only connect and transfer tokens between them. Now, thanks to the Interchain Accounts, a blockchain can control an account on a separate chain.
In other words, a user will be able to access all the features of any IBC-enabled Cosmos chains straight from one Cosmos Hub account. This is supposed to improve the user experience and boost the activity among DeFis in application-specific blockchains in the Cosmos ecosystem.
This recent change brings composability to Cosmos, a characteristic present in Ethereum, that will increase innovation by allowing developers to deploy new features in distinct applications without a massive upgrade. However, unlike in Ethereum, blockchains will remain entirely sovereign.
Airdrop dropped 🪙
Shade Protocol launched its airdrop on February 21st, generating a lot of anticipation among community members, but all the excitement faded away pretty quickly, once the congested network prevented users from claiming their $SHD.
There was some buzz across Social Media, frustrated users were experiencing long waiting times, which was addressed by Secret Network in an official thread posted on the Secret Network forum.
The root of the issue was that nodes on Secret Network were running an outdated WebAssembly engine, preventing them from running long computations efficiently.
Apparently, Secret is working on a solution to be deployed in the coming days to improve the situation, while a whole network upgrade (hard fork) is also in the works.
NFTs, NFTs everywhere ⭐
Stargaze, the project building a Layer-1 interoperable NFT solution in the Cosmos ecosystem, just passed a proposal to create the Stargaze denomination for Gravity Bridge.
This will allow, thanks to the Bridge, NFTs to be sent back and forth between the whole Cosmos ecosystem and Ethereum, something that is not possible on any other network.
Stargaze will also deploy on EVMOS for Evmos-originating NFTs in the near future.
Airdrops List 💦
It is difficult to ignore all the airdrops happening in the Cosmos ecosystem. So here is a list of airdrops for the week.
