A little bit of chit-chat
dYdX successfully launched its public testnet using the Cosmos SDK. On Twitter, many community members praised the good UX of the application and the fact that, even when it’s built in Cosmos, there was a plentiful selection of wallets including those popular in the Ethereum ecosystem.
A threshold for YES
`A proposal has been put forth in the Osmosis community, aiming to introduce a new parameter that would impact the passing of proposals. Currently, proposals are approved if the number of 'yes' votes exceeds the combined 'no' and 'no_with_veto' votes, along with meeting the quorum requirement. However, this often results in proposals passing with a relatively low proportion of stake in favor. The new proposal suggests implementing a minimum threshold of 40% 'yes' votes for a proposal to pass, ensuring a higher level of support and promoting stronger consensus within the Osmosis community.
This change would have significant implications for Osmosis governance. By raising the requirement for 'yes' votes, the proposal aims to enhance the decision-making process and discourage the passage of proposals lacking sufficient backing. This would reduce the likelihood of approving unpopular or ambiguous proposals, as validators would be less inclined to abstain. Moreover, the new parameter would necessitate greater community participation and engagement, as proposals would require increased support. This adjustment would make Osmosis governance more conservative, requiring substantial stake support for proposals to be passed.
It's important to note that this proposal would not retroactively affect previously approved proposals. However, it would impact future proposals, ensuring they meet the higher threshold for 'yes' votes. The proposal provides an illustrative example, showcasing the potential impact of passing proposals based on the proportion of 'yes' votes compared to the 40% parameter. This change promotes more robust and representative decision-making within the Osmosis ecosystem.

Mr. Governator
An engaging discussion has sparked within the Osmosis community forum surrounding the intriguing notion of "governators" in Cosmos. These governators, proposed as political representatives separate from validators, would be chosen by token holders to champion their interests in matters beyond infrastructure. This concept aims to strike a harmonious balance, allowing validators to focus on safeguarding the network while governators handle crucial governance decisions.
The conversation underscores the potential advantages of this approach, enabling validators to specialize in technical roles while harnessing the insights and expertise of governators in shaping governance matters. The proposal recognizes the vibrant Osmosis community's diverse skill sets and passions by allowing individuals to opt out of either role. Notably, governators would hold governance vote power, while validators would retain consensus vote power, ensuring effective representation and robust decision-making.
As the dialogue unfolds, participants delve into the practical aspects of implementing the governator concept, emphasizing the significance of accountability and the necessity for clear guidelines and oaths for both validators and governators.
