A little bit of chit-chat
Celestia's Blobstream technology will be integrated with Starknet. This integration is aimed at facilitating high-throughput Layer 3 solutions on Starknet using Celestia as a modular Data Availability layer. The initiative also includes adapting Celestia Blobstream for Starknet's Cairo programming language.
Restaked security for Cosmos
The team behind Skip Protocol has recently launched Slinky, an oracle aggregator designed specifically for decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and perpetual markets (perps). According to Skip, the focus of Slinky is on providing high performance and minimal trust reliance through three key features: restaked security, trust minimization, and Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) delivery and performance.
Restaked security means that Slinky uses the inherent security mechanisms of the native blockchain to ensure safety. The trust minimization aspect is achieved through the avoidance of external committees for data verification. In terms of performance, Slinky apparently offers millisecond-fresh price data that is available with every blockchain block.
Integrating Slinky into DeFi applications could enable these applications to function without relying on trusted intermediaries for oracle services. This could simplify the process of settling user trades, as oracle prices will be readily available without delay. Furthermore, Slinky offers the option to source data from multiple vendors instead of being restricted to a single source.
A new distribution model
A new debate has emerged regarding the Interchain Security (ICS) economic model. A "temperature check" was posted on the Cosmos Hub community forum to gather opinions on whether the community should consider modifying the way rewards from consumer chains are distributed.
Currently, rewards are primarily allocated to stakers, which, according to Govmos, the author of the post, has resulted in the fragmentation of liquidity and the accumulation of insignificant token amounts, or "dust tokens," in many holders' wallets. As stated in the post, these tokens often go unused and are considered "lost in the void," contributing to inefficiencies in the system.
As of writing, the majority of polled community members (63%) have indicated their agreement that a change in the rewards system should be considered.
