A little bit of chit-chat
The ATOMAccelerator Grant Program, recently announced its open for applications. Its core objective is to stimulate adoption by engaging developers, integrating consumer chains, and expanding its user base. The program extends an invitation to interested parties to commence their engagement within the AEZ, positioning itself as a foundational platform for development within the Cosmos network. Another try, another angle
A new proposal has emerged within the Cosmos Hub’s community that seeks to enhance the Hub's capabilities without compromising its foundational principles of security and neutrality. The proposal, which has sparked considerable discussion among the Cosmos community, suggests the introduction of an Execution Layer (EL) to integrate CosmWasm smart contract capabilities into the Hub. This initiative aims to address the growing concern that the Cosmos Hub may be lagging behind other appchains that have already adopted CosmWasm, potentially diminishing its central role in the ecosystem.
The proposed EL is designed as a complementary extension to the Cosmos Hub, leveraging the robust security framework of the original blockchain while expanding its functionality to accommodate a broader range of decentralized applications and use cases. By adopting a model similar to Layer 2 solutions seen in the Ethereum network, the EL seeks to enhance the Hub's scalability and efficiency without needing a separate token; transactions would continue to utilize ATOM, the native currency of the Cosmos ecosystem.
The technical blueprint of the EL outlines a modified appchain built using the Cosmos SDK, with a focus on maintaining the Cosmos Hub's security and speed. A crucial aspect of the proposal is the streamlined validator set for the EL, which aims to ensure operational continuity and network distribution while inheriting the Hub's security through a carefully selected group of validators known for their reliability within the Cosmos ecosystem. This strategic move is seen as a way to bolster the Hub's position as a central player in the blockchain space, encouraging the development and deployment of innovative dApps within the Cosmos network.
